Hotel Description

The Britania is a fully restored Art Deco townhouse hotel designed by famous Portuguese modernist architect Cassiano Branco, and located 50 metres from Lisbon's Avenida da Liberdade and less than a kilometre from the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, one of Europe's finest collections of modern art. The 30 guestrooms all have restored Art Deco marble and chrome bathrooms with bathrobes, slippers, complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Rooms are decorated in warm tones with dark wood furnishings and chrome light fittings, and all include air conditioning, minibars, satellite television, safes, direct-dial phones and Internet connections.
Guests can sip on cocktails and enjoy light snacks in the Art Deco style bar Imperio, which features original parquet floors and ceiling murals. Multilingual staff are available in the marble lobby 24 hours a day to offer advice on the area's best tourist attractions, while tour assistance is available from the concierge. Driving directions: From Lisbon Airport follow signs for Lisbon centre/downtown. Once you've reached the centre, follow signs for Maques de Pombal. Then follow signs to Rossio square and take the Liberdade Avenue. Turn right in front of the metro station and take the first street on the left for the hotel.
